Syllabus

We have left ample time for you to complete all recorded activities. PLEASE: Do not leave these activities to the last minute!! You can preview quizzes before you take them and discuss them with your classmates. Do this early and leave yourself plenty of time to complete the activities before their deadlines. There will be no makeups of late activities. No exceptions. You may not discuss a Quiz after you have submitted it to be recorded.

Your final grades will be based on

• Required quizzes and communication activities. These will be done online. Quizzes for a given date should be submitted for grading before deadlines as given in the above calander. These quizzes can only be taken once. There are several practice quizzes. These can be taken as often as desired and will be saved in your student folder. For each of the Stages 1-9 the maximum total normalized quiz score will be 20. Stage 10 consists of a practice final exam. There will be an Communication Activity in Stage 7 worth 30 points, consisting of an organized online chat with a partner. More information will be given later. In addition, there will be written assignments to be mailed in before the midterm and final.

• A Midterm Exam and Final Exam. These will be done in a traditional manner. Students should contact the instructor as soon possible to make arrangements for a proctor for the exams.

Scores for exams and online activities will be recorded in the QuestWriter^TM Gradebook. Each student will receive a total score out of a possible 600 points. These total scores will be compared and course grades will be assigned on a curve by your instructor. The grading scale will not be tougher than the standard straight scale: 90%=A-, 80%=B-, 70%=C-, 60%=D-, 50%=F. You must score at least 50% of the total possible points to pass the course with a D- or better.
