CREDITS and PREREQUISITES:

Credits: 3 per term
Prerequisites: GER 213 or equivalent (see instructor if you have questions); taught in German.

TEXTS:

Reading packet, available at Henderson's Office Systems, 215 NW Jackson St. in downtown Corvallis. Open 8:30am to 5:30 pm M-F.

GRADING:

First Exam 40%
Second Exam 30%
Participation 30%

Final course grades will be awarded on the following scale: A=93-100%; A-=90-92; B+=88-89; B=83-87; B-=80-82; C+=78-79; C=73- 77; C-=70-72; D+=68-69; D=63-67; D-=60-62; F= 59 & below

TESTING AND MAKEUP POLICY:

There will be no makeups on the test except under extraordinary circumstances, and then only if you have been working in good faith, and if you follow these guidelines. You must call (number above, leave a voice mail if necessary) or send me an email before the hour of the test that you will not be able to attend. We will discuss a makeup, to be completed before I return the tests to the class. NO MAKEUPS ON SHORT, IN-CLASS QUIZZES, if any.

ATTENDANCE and HOMEWORK:

Attendance is essential and MANDATORY. I take attendance every day. You are allowed 1 absence with no questions asked and no explanations taken. After 1, your final course grade may be affected negatively by each additional absence.

Homework must be completed by the class day designated on the daily Stundenplan, which will be posted on the web well in advance of each class period.

STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES:

Accommodations are collaborative efforts between students, faculty and Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD). Students with accommodations approved through SSD are responsible for contacting the faculty member in charge of the course prior to or during the first week of the term to discuss accommodations. Students who believe they are eligible for accommodations but who have not yet obtained approval through SSD should contact SSD immediately at 737-4098.
