Students who accept financial aid are expected to be aware of their responsibilities and obligations as an aid recipient:
You are responsible for supplying complete and accurate information on which we base your eligibility for aid.
You must be admitted to a degree-granting program. (Students classified as non-degree seeking or special admits are not eligible for federal financial aid.)
You must maintain satisfactory academic progress.
You are responsible for using the aid offered for educationally-related expenses.
When you sign a promissory note for a loan, you are responsible for paying it back.
First time loan borrowers of a Ford Direct loan must complete an entrance counseling session prior to receiving their loan payment. Sessions are available online anytime with the Department of Education. Submit the confirmation/signature page to the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships. You may also sign your promissory note online. However, if you also receive a paper promissory note from our office, please sign and return it to the OSU Student Loan Office.
You must not be in default or owe a refund on any Title IV funds received for attendance at any institution.
You are responsible for reporting a change in status such as name change, adjustment in course load, change in terms of enrollment, change in residency, etc.
It is your responsibility to report all resources or assistance being received at any time. This includes, but is not limited to:
If the additional resource results in an overaward, assistance for subsequent terms in the academic year will be reduced or canceled OR you may be required to repay all or a portion of aid already received.
