CORVALLIS - Oregon State University is celebrating the holidays with the university's 20th annual Holiday Market and free children's community party.

The two-day Holiday Market will be held on Friday, Nov. 30, and Saturday, Dec. 1. The Children's Holiday Party is set for Sunday afternoon, Dec. 2, said Heather Lee, program adviser for OSU's Memorial Union Program Council.

Both events are free and open to the public, but because of limited space, pre-registration is required for the children's party. The children's party is geared to children ages 5-11. To pre-register for the party, call 541-737-1567 and for accommodations related to a disability, call 541-737-6872.

Check-in for the Children's Holiday Party starts at 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 2, in the campus Memorial Union Lounge. Party activities start at 1 p.m. with OSU student "elves" assisting children throughout the party, Lee said. Activities include, holiday crafts, dancing, singing and snacks.

At 3:15 p.m., Portland-based Tears of Joy Theatre will present "The Toad Prince," an hour-long "beauty-and-beast" story from China featuring costumed rod-style puppets.

Holiday market hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 30 and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 1 in the Memorial Union Ballroom. Sponsored by the OSU Memorial Union Craft Center, the market features hand-tooled gifts from community artisans, as well as free live music.

For information, contact the OSU Memorial Union Program Council at 541-737-6872 or the craft center at 541-737-2937.
