MEO was created by
students for students, with the goal of enhancing diversity and better
supporting the needs of a multi-racial, multi-ethnic, multicultural
university. The student group T.E.A.M. (Together Everyone Accomplishes More)
presented the concept of Minority Education Office (MEO) to President Paul
Risser in the spring of 1996. President Risser approved the request to create
MEO, which opened in the fall of 1997. The Indian Education Office which had
been in existence for several years was joined by the Asian/Pacific American
Education Office, Casa Educacional Office, and the Ujima Education Office.
